Connectors

Connectors

Connectors let you add optional capabilities to AgentLayer without adding every protocol or service to the wallet itself.

They can bring an agent structured crypto and DeFi data, protocol analytics, marketplace discovery, x402 service metadata, and other agent-native services. You decide which connectors are available to your local agent, and can disable them at any time.

Existing first-party wallet integrations — including Aave, Kamino, and Morpho — remain built into the wallet. They do not move to, or depend on, Connectors.

How a connector works

A connector is a versioned manifest plus a remote HTTPS service:

  1. You inspect its publisher, endpoint, permissions, and declared tools.
  2. AgentLayer stores that exact manifest version in a local registry.
  3. You explicitly enable it.
  4. After restarting your agent host, its tools are discovered alongside the wallet’s built-in tools.

The connector service runs remotely. AgentLayer does not download or run arbitrary publisher code on your machine.

Connector types

TypeHostingWhat it can do
community_read_onlyHosted by the publisherReturn structured external data.
verified_read_onlyReviewed identity and artifactReturn structured external data.
verified_writeImmutable, isolated AgentLayer deploymentPrepare unsigned transaction intents for local verification.

Community connectors are always read-only. Their data remains external and untrusted: it can inform an agent, but it cannot authorize movement of funds.

Write-capable integrations have a different security boundary. A connector may only prepare an unsigned intent; the local wallet owns validation, simulation, preview, approval, signing, and broadcast. No connector gets direct signing access.

connector → unsigned intent → local validation → simulation
→ preview → user confirmation → local signing → broadcast

What connectors never receive

  • private keys, seed phrases, or wallet files
  • signer objects
  • the AgentLayer boot key
  • approval secrets or approval tokens
